Dakota Prosch, founder of the Chicago Red Hots, and derby legend Val Capone during our first season in 2013.

The Chicago Red Hots is a roller derby club formed in December of 2012 by Dakota Prosch (formerly known as Kola Loka), a member of Team USA Roller Derby who has played roller derby since 2005, and Fernando Regueiro, Chair of the World Skate International Roller Derby Commission and member of the USA Roller Sports Roller Derby Committee. They wanted a family and fan-friendly version of the sport in the city where roller derby was created. Frustrated by the rules that Dakota had been playing and with a vision of the sport becoming more mainstream and widely legitimized, they developed the foundation for the club and joined forces with co-founder Dani Henderson (formerly known as Dani Get Your Guns) to embark in the creation of a team to play under the fan-friendly World Skate International Rules.

It was not long before a number of players from several leagues across the Chicago area began practicing with the team, attracted by the rules, the relaxed environment and the fresh concepts that the Red Hots team provides. In 2013, our first year of competition, the Red Hots won 4th place at the USA Roller Sports National Championship.

In 2014, we played four games at the Cicero Stadium, ending with a historic win against the National Champions of México, who came to Chicago for the first-ever International USARS game. For the 2015 season, we increased the number of games to six and signed a 3-year contract with our permanent home, the Cicero Stadium. In 2016 we went undefeated at home in our six games against mostly All-Star teams from all over the nation and in 2017 we only had one loss at home against the Deep South All-Stars.

After the success of our previous seasons and our great success at the 2017 National Championship, where we got third place in the nation, we will be bringing fast derby back to Chicago with 5 home games at the Cicero Stadium in 2018. See the Events page for info or meet the team.

The goal of the Chicago Red Hots is to play, promote, and advance the sport of roller derby under the umbrella of the International Olympic Committee. As part of our commitment to the Olympic Movement, we are affiliated to USA Roller Sports and play using the World Skate International Rules. We provide a supportive yet competitive environment in which members may continually improve their athletic ability and sportsmanship, as well as grow their integrity and self-confidence through regular and rigorous training sessions, both on and off skates.
